Breathe Peace

Imagine that
peace-
within improves life
more than righteous anger
propelling us into
marches, sit-ins, debates
and demonstrations.  Breathe.

Exhale deeply, pushing
anger out with your air
as if baling water
from a boat after rain.

The hull is sound, ready
to float in fresh water
and you've earned it.
Take tree shade and shallows
first, breathe in your welcome.

  2. I loved this and read it thrice yesterday and today. I have been full of an ocean of thoughts re my country's governance of late, I am from Malaysia, a country with lovely people but our government has been in the news a lot for all of the wrong reasons and then some. Change is hard and takes a lot out of the hapless citizens. This poem is just calming to the soul.

  10. Thich Nhat Hanh has a book called being peace, well worth the read....
our protests and things we believe in have devolved into anger and violence
which in the end, wins us what? freedom, equality
    or just dominance?
