Ability to travel again
Unexpected
Joy paramount where
Depression reigned
Window seat and beyond
Snow-scape in bright sun
Frozen chunks lining deep
Purple water channel
Sentinel trees
Watch sun skip like stones
On wavy lapping water
Everything is new
Shouting “Look At Me!”
Look at me!
Look at me looking—
Me! Escaped prisoner
Of my body
Taking it with me
Over the river and
Through the woods
To my family’s home
On this train.

I really like train journeys and seldom take them. There is something relaxing about the click clacking of travel along the tracks. Window seats ARE best indeed. And everything IS new when you are traveling by train...it gives a completely new dimension.
ReplyDeleteThere is something special with train journeys. I think the way we see without seeing. To silently observe, to be in a separated life.. All that together creates a special world.
ReplyDeleteI can feel your joy! I love train journeys myself. :)
ReplyDeleteI love train journeys ever since my childhood days.'Watch sun skip like stones
ReplyDeleteOn wavy lapping water' ....and I love how beautifully you have put the panorama out the window of a running train into words.
oh that is wonderful and even more when a journey comes unexpected... i love a train ride and watching the world glide by...and escape in many ways... have fun out there...smiles
ReplyDeleteI love train journeys mainly as I don't have to watch the road (hoping the driver/engineer/whatever is doing that). The scenery does talk to you and tease you too knowing that you will never find the place again by yourself..
ReplyDeletei find train journey's extremely poetic.... and this poem proves tha point
ReplyDeleteOh mobility of mind and body is a joy..it often seems a rare occasion when the two come together..i am glad they did for you!
ReplyDeletethere is a certain relief in this....i think of one that has been trapped by circumstances...or by things that maybe out out of their control...or a challenge to overcome...and finally feeling like you have slipped those bounds a bit...i would love to travel by train again...
ReplyDeleteI like the journey to the family home ~ Looking out in the train, specially by window seats, are the best ~
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday~

trains have their own poetry... thanks for taking us along
ReplyDeleteSo moving poem, love 'Watch sun skip like stones' and 'Look at me!' - joy of uniting with family again! happy poem!
ReplyDeleteI can feel the exhilaration, finally getting out of your place and going somewhere, "escaped prisoner of my body". I envy you the train rides. I LONG for train travel, but in Canada it is horribly expensive - and then they wonder why the train companies dont make a profit - no one can afford to ride! I love the description of all the beauty outside the train window, you must be feasting your eyes!
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is, "YAY YOU!" I am so glad you are feeling better and able to live the life you want to live.
ReplyDeleteOh I feel as though I am on that traveling train with you! Lovely :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful ride. Beautifully experienced.

I love taking the train. I don't do it often, but really enjoy it when I do. It's good to get out and see the world any way you can!
ReplyDeleteI am glad that you can enjoy trips again as well as how much fun and interesting they can be, Susan. Comfortable trains can make the journeys so pleasant. I enjoyed the happy tone of your poem.
ReplyDeleteYou described the changing scenery wonderfully and the "look at me, look at me" gave me an added feel to the pictures flying by in the window and a sense of the clakity-clak sounds of the rails beneath. What a great tie! Show off......Ar Ar
ReplyDeleteThere is such joy and fun here--"look at me!" I loved going on this journey with you
ReplyDeleteTrain trips can be interesting as you take in the sights and sounds. Hope your journey was fun. I'd like to watch sun skip like stones. A lovely image comes to mind.
ReplyDeleteThere is something so freeing about traveling by train...good for you getting away!
