When secrets are debilitating, but
confession is counter-intuitive,
what is a soul to do?
Step, glide, do-si-do, swing your partner—can’t
figure it out alone but figure skate
across the thinnest ice.
Partnered with truth or God or whatever—
you call it—now is mine to call the tune
truth or consequences.
The question is which is to be master
that’s all as Humpty Dumpty told Alice
in Through the Looking Glass.
Look at my face and touch my inner guide
who wants authority (beyond all else)
to be true to myself
and call out: Come Witness! the decision
to tell my story and to hear it, too—
so to heal and renew.

I love "Come, Witness!" Telling our story does help us to heal and renew. I like this series of Step poems you are doing.
