Fruit and Vegetables

source

What if the questionable privilege
of buying fruits and vegetables year round
became extinct over-night, and super
market shelves were empty before daylight?
Who could go into their kitchen garden,
barn and cold storage? Learn foraging and
use their dandelions differently?
Befriend a cow or goat for milk and cheese?
In “developed” countries, we are—except
for a few—estranged from the wealth of wild
animals and living plants. Is it too
late to learn? Are we too many to learn?

Dear Earth, dear God-ness, give us one more chance
to clean up our mess and join your dance.

  1. It does seem that what is broken will be hard to fix. There is a tiny sliver of hope...tiny.. but will it be too late. It is worrisome now..scary even.

  2. Food shortages will be occurring, given the climate crisis, politics, and war. We have become dependant on corporate agriculture. But maybe we can turn to local small farms for far superior produce. I especially love your closing lines.

  3. Certainly too many. Its been breed out of us. We would put too many out of work if there was enough land mass.
