Sing Along

This brings smears = smiles and tears!

If you know the tune and sing along
we shall overcome
and fly over the rainbow—
no one can fly there alone.

We’ll find sweet honey
in clover and rock
We’ll find clear water
in endless rivers and
dis-em-bodied seas.

If we learn the tune and sing along
we will row the boats ashore
and navigate free highways—
no one can change these alone.

We’ll befriend magic
dragons in season
and find time to laugh
as well as time to
remember and weep.

If you teach new tunes, we’ll sing along
and stay forever young and strong
and capable of standing up
for each other, not alone.

We’ll leave our little
hillside boxes to
plant answers:  Where have
all the flowers have gone?
They’ve come safely home.

  3. Oh I do hope we'll befriend the magic of peace. I guess your prompt inspired similar thoughts for me too. But I like your way of expressing it best.

  7. You know writing is good when your eyes fill with tears and you get all choked up. What a medley of songs you squeezed in here.

  9. Absolutely wonderful, Susan. I am all misty-eyed about Pete Seeger and so many others of my youth, and the songs to which we knew all the words, and sang so often. I haven't watched the video yet. Don't know if I'm ready for smears today because am already sad about our neighbour's Golden Retriever dying.
Oh. Well. I'll watch the video.

  10. so many songs through out life have given strength encouragement happiness and have been a source of expression and a catharsis -so truly it is 'sing along' 'like a bridge over troubled waters'
become a 'song for peace for ourselves and for all others in our world.
