In the Spirit

File:Madonna-and-child.jpg
Madonna and Child by Davezelenka (2005)

Glee raises Christmas caroling
happiness for birth days,
a yearly Joy to the World (!) see
how great the joy a babe is born
Joy joy joy (!) greater yet to live
past childhood far from where death stalks
and drains the spirit of true peace,
a joy to rest vigilance when
it's safe to forget fear, such joy
to wait for un-troubled sleep, joy
recalled in Christmas caroling
at home and in streets lit with glee,
evergreen trees tremble with joy
joy joy (!) and more spirit deploy.

  3. I think that is the most beautiful Madonna and Child painting i have ever seen - perfectly combined with your words to lift the Spirit..oddly i sat for a while in the church this morning.. i shall have to research but i am wondering if there was a reason Alice was dressed in blue and white.. curious or coincidence..

  4. Joy is one of the words that makes me happy just by hearing it. It also has the innocence.

The trees are in agreement, they are full of joy not only during Christmas but also at times when a baby is born. Or something positive happens in the world.

    Thanks for sharing this Susan.

  5. Joy will surely come when it becomes safe enough to forget fear... Hopefully the world gets there soon.

  7. It would be good to retain the Christmas spirit of joy throughout the year. There really is a feeling of joy and hope during the season but it seems to vanish quickly in the New Year.

  10. I think for a Christian the feeling that He is with us all the time helps us to feel that joy when at times it can be overlooked. Lovely writing. :-)

  13. Christmas is definitely a season of joy; there is something about those beautifully decorated streets, I think. And, of course, there is the joy of singing Christmas carols...the same ones every year!

  19. I love the idea of evergreen trees trembling with joy...the very concept of evergreen perhaps being eternal hope itself. Wonderful.
