The Impeccable Stranger

Solitude, by John B. Heywood.jpg
Solitude, by John B. Heywood (1859?-1865?)

The impeccable stranger is kind, of course,
kind to the nth degree—superhero
kind—without an ulterior motive
such as wanting a friend or even sticking
around to talk or walk when not wanted.

The impeccable stranger desires only
to be a better stranger—one who pays
a debt forward and pours spirit into
a starved and scary city to increase
its peace, safety and chances of justice.

A hermit speaks, of course, hard to befriend,
but one who loves all life until world’s end.

Typical of a stranger with no preconceived ideas that could drive a wedge against a new-found friendship. They were approachable with the idea of making friends!

  2. Sadly, we seem, in need, for more consummate strangers, and not less, in these troubling times that we live in.

  4. In accepting people as they are without criticism is a most satisfying way to be. It is so much easier in life to smile as you walk your way and they theirs.

  8. Ah, if we all tried to be a better stranger and pay a debt forward, what a different world it would be. I loved your "take" on the challenge.

  11. There are many people out there just like this. People who may never have had a kindness done back to them but hands them out just the same. Great point, Susan!

  12. I have seen the truth of it. There are many many strangers all around us. Strangers until we recognize the face behind their acts of kindness.

  18. We need more 'impeccable strangers,' unselfish individuals who are kind....just because.

And, we all need to strive to be those 'impeccable strangers' ourselves.

  19. Thought provoking.
'Impeccable stranger' is a good term. Internet friendships fit this category but a stranger, will always be just that.. a stranger, even impeccable ones:)

  20. May our cities and all other cities fill with the smiles and gentle ever-watching eyes of "impeccable strangers". So many wrongs would be righted, so much hope would be born bright out of the scary darkness.

  21. It takes no more effort to proceed with a bit of kindness than without, I think - and, likely lightens your own burdens as you go. So sad, that a lot of people do not see that simple truth.
