Interrogating Color*

Why are ghosts white?
Caucasians too?

Visible Light enters
our eyes, cooperates

with old assumptions of power—
whether our eyes are green, blue, brown,
hazel or black, they confirm lies
and names we could dismantle with
logic and common sense.  Like who
owes whom and how much. Who's
shooter and who's victim.

Use ears instead.
Music has color, right?

It's blue full rhapsody.
It takes blue notes into

purples and reds,
and tells the truth.

For my prompt

Poets United Midweek Motif ~ Colour (Color)

*For those who read earlier, know that I just added ears to my poem, a small--huge--rewrite.  I took out the word "only" as it seemed untrue.  I added violence.  Done at 11am, 3/22/2018. slc.

  1. Lang Lang is the colour of gorgeous. To think I missed out on tickets last year. He had an injury and it is not know when he will perform again. What is the colour of 'to die for'? The colour of joy?
Music is the colour of truth. Loved this poem.Loved the clip.

  2. This is very cool. Only mysic has colour. I love it. I often wonder who made white skin supreme. We are actually pink, lol.

  3. I love how truth comes out here so strongly and with color. Wonderful.

  4. Perhaps the pallid skin of "white" people is in fact a genetic fault and not something to be proud of in its need to protect from the Sun. Humankind are such vain and stupid creatures I wish I had been an eagle (I'm getting fed up with cooking my food). However humans are quite inventive as you demonstate in music as you illustrate. Too late to change now in any case.

    purples and reds,

  7. I can't dispute any of that! Particularly when you add the music to prove it.

Beautiful thoughts Susan. Music has to find its way into the hearts and it does by and by!

  11. Why indeed, Susan? I like that you put ghosts in it. I believe music and more has color!
