Christmas Eve (Haiku for Baby Jesus)

Hours of labor
spent to birth a son of God
and alter the stars

Forever.

Mary did you know
this child that you've delivered
would deliver you?

Forever.

Mary did you—do you—
believe in forever? Do
you watch us believe?

Forever

Hours of labor
we spend telling your story,
Joyfully hoping.

Forever

We lean back to see
stars beyond moon glow, knowing
how tiny we are.

Forever

We stand up against
the walls of past and present
that tear us apart.

Forever

Hours of labor
we spend telling his-story,
loving, hopeful.

Forever

FYI: Story behind the song: ‘Mary did you know?’
