Easter, Goddess of Spring*

I heard someone call today resurrection day—
And then I heard a song called Resurrection Day,
all about the Good News of Jesus Christ. Yes!  

At Meeting for Worship and during fellowship after,
many commented that this year’s awakening feels
more uplifting than usual what with spring weather   

And good news about Covid 19 vaccines spreading swiftly
across the United States, some too late and much on time.
Perhaps prevention will be better than resurrection 

Though not as mysterious, not requiring as much faith
from us, nor providing mercy for our trespasses as we
forgive those who trespass against us. Have we planted  

Enough seeds for nature to nurture in the darkness?
Will sprouting be a spring awakening, with new cubs and all?
Will Jesus nod at his predecessors and wash their feet?  

I believe miracles happen, don’t you? To see that of God
in every living thing is not difficult when we go back to
the origin of words, of names, of diseases, and cures.
