The dated Sony clock-radioand TV are still with me.The ceramics—an Italian folk-art lamp and a cat footprint cup—were victims of poor packing during my last move. What is timeless? What is not?
For Sumana's prompt "Capturing an Image" at What's Going On?
Oh no, you lost your pretty lamp! I have an old clock radio like that too. They last forever. I may have had it actual decades by now. Smiles. I love the photo and the question in your poem.
ReplyDeleteGood question! Sigh. The clock radio would not have been a great loss, but the lamp and cup were. So good though that you have the picture as memory.
ReplyDeleteOh ho! ( A very Bengali expression) Kintsugi art grew out of such broken things just as your poem came out. The last two questions seem to act as the lacquer dusted with powdered gold or silver. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteA great question to end and think about objects which make everyday things comforting to us - Jae
ReplyDeleteSusan, you have my sympathy. I have lost a few possessions to moving, but the worst thing was leaving a box of treasured books behind in someone’s attic in Ireland. Interesting questions.
ReplyDeleteSometimes in certain circumstances we are forced to let cherished objects go. You still have a photo of your lamp and cup...a good thing. Enjoyed your poem
ReplyDeleteAww victims of poor packing Yes nothing is forever Love the questions
ReplyDeleteYou illustrate and pose such great questions here!
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty lamp, I guess packers and movers have answered your questions.
ReplyDeleteI guess it is those things that survive wherever we take them.
ReplyDeleteMy last move was a disaster. Many things were missing or broken. I like your question at the end.
