Steady curtains of gray rain fell
until noon when opened by sun—
a sun unable to warm air
but able to glow and receive
greetings from all of us—pines, weeds,
grasses, humans, dogs, and all else—
lifting faces, shoulders, and limbs
to wave with out-stretched body parts.
Wake up bodies! Beckoned the sun,
Attached to earth or not, wake up!
Blinded by me or focusing—
wake up and join the joy of life!
Enough bodies listened, for sun
beamed brighter and warmed everyone.

Ah, the invitation to join in the joy of life is so lovely. I love the closing lines, with the sun drinking in enough love to warm us. Sigh. So uplifting!
ReplyDeleteI love the thought of all our faces upturned -human, dog and all - and that the sun has drunk in enough love to warm us. Lovely, Susan.
