A long life moves stone

The thing about Harry Belafonte
dead, beautiful fountain, is how he loved
life. You can hear it in his singing,
see it in his body, know it in his
activism. Love him whole, greater than
the sum of the discs, video, film, talks,
and friends that remain. His orbit was long
and wide. He left the world a better place.

I, too, am getting old enough to die—
and young enough to live life more fully.
All of us, with our small orbits, are young  enough to find joy and invite our
planet(s) to do the same.  This vision
is Harry's gift to us: we can change stone.

April is poetry month, day #27.

My blog poems are rough drafts.
