Water Awe

Awed, I dip my hand in water.

This time of quiet dipping is

both prayer and answer.  We speak

of acorns and oak, grapes and wine,

milk and cheese.  We know rot and 

breaking, dust to dust and return 

to earth. We dip our hands into

cycles of elemental earth   

and accept beginnings and ends.
