Waking is Better than Nightmare

"The Sea Inside"  painting by Samy Charnine

At 2am, I'm up, remembering how I
exposed you, how you exposed me.  You were helpless
to protest, I could see.  I needed company.
Forgive me.  I know you can hear.  I feel you here,
in my air, keeping me from home.  Visiting me,
you say, surrounding me, staring out to the sea.
Night falls and day rises, but all is misery.
