Creation

source

Let this be a poem seed that grows bigger
than a lilac bush and that smells as sweet.
Let this be a poem-pod that scrolls rainbows
across the sky and rains out dirt complete.

And once the colors grow and glow, let’s build
An ark of freedom, an act of kindness
so that not color nor language nor tone
arrests, so ICE contracts certain blindness.

And then let’s walk along the nearest stream,
and talk about the flies, frogs, fish, and birds
we see, talk about life, love, and how to
create so we can move beyond these words.

The more we can picture a future free,
The more likely that free future will be.

  2. This is beautiful, Susan! First of all, I love the idea of an ark of freedom & the idea that ice will contract certain blindness. Oh that it would come to be!
And most of all, I love the ending:
"The more we can picture a future free,
The more likely that free future will be."
That is so true. We cannot lose hope. Never!

  3. Wonderful! I believe in that arc, though it moves slowly........I think the monks have moved the needle quite a lot on their journey. I love your arc of freedom and that walk along the river talking about life. May it be so.

  7. I like to be "walking along a stream," who wouldn't? Seems the path would be easy to make, but try, it won't be easy. Sorry I am so late tonight. I generally compose while sitting on the side of my bed. I had this one pretty well ready but then I lost the snow picture I wanted to use. Tonight; on the bed looking for a suitable "Fresh snow on the road this one popped up in front of my BIL'S home.
My creation wont survive very much traffic but I think a few will like. I do have an old Mustang, 28 years old but I have never made a donut with any car I've owned. Won't start now.
Thank you much for hosting again.
