Separation

The purple lilac is the state flower of New Hampshire

 The lilacs worried the room
with their wilting
She sketched them grim
and bittersweet
The sun sank lower
and cast a shadow
which changed violet
into gray
And the sketch faded in the cold night air.

  1. Glad that Sherry told you to 'put it in the pantry.' Every Sunday morning, you will find the pantry awaiting your words!

Love the idea of the lilacs worrying the room..what a creative way of expressing deep sadness, Susan.

  3. Nice changing of the mood from the violet to the wilting gray ~ Hopefully the grim and bittersweet will fade with the morning light ~
